I also maintain a home in Manzanita and spend roughly a quarter of his time along the North Coast, where he found constant inspiration in the area's raw beauty. Gregg began painting at an early age, taught by his father, who was also an artist. Gregg's connection to art stretches back many years, but in 2018, Gregg discovered the encaustic medium and was immediately captivated. Using a wide range of substrates,  he often incorporates mixed media into his work. Gregg then layers hot, pigmented beeswax, fusing each layer with fire to build luminous textures and striking depth. Each piece can contain up to 30 distinct layers, all unified with the flame of a blowtorch or heatgun.
