Lorrie Vogel

Lorrie Vogel is an encaustic artist, Professor of Design Thinking at the University of
Oregon, and a former design executive with more than two decades of leading
Design/Innovation at Nike. Trained in Industrial Design at Syracuse University, her
create practice bridges, design, emotion, memory, and atmosphere through the
luminous qualities of wax and a layered surface.
Influenced by Impressionism and the emotional power of light, Vogel works primarily in
encaustic and cold wax painting. She is drawn to these mediums for their unique ability
to create depth, translucency, and a sculptural surface quality that shifts with light and
viewing angle.
