This Magnificent rendition of a great blue heron is composed of forged steel combined with individually formed wing and tail feathers. The feathers were roughly shaped, and then formed around a cut wooden mold to create the indentations of the feather pattern. After completion of the basic form, a powder-blue patina was applied to the copper wing elements to develop the vibrant blue hue.
