Monochromatic Painting Workshop

Regular price $125.00

A monochrome or monochromatic painting is one created using only one color or hue. It can use different shades of one color but by definition should contain only one base color. For more than a hundred years artists have used a single color as a vehicle for exploring both the potential and limitations of painting, using this reductive formula to experiment with formal concerns of composition and tonality or to advance theories related to nature. Although monochromatic color paintings became most popular in contemporary art, it is possible to find many famous colorful paintings throughout the history of art in which the artist creates the artwork with one dominant color.
The choice of color can evoke different emotions and give a whole new meaning to a piece of art. Furthermore, monochromatic color paintings have the power to intensify the viewer’s reaction when used in a smart manner, like the impactful colorful trees painted by Artist Greg Brownlow.

In this Monochromatic Tree Painting class, Greg will lead you through painting your own monochromatic tree painting with the acrylic color of your choice. He will introduce you to M. Grahm's professional paints, the different brush shapes, and how to use the brushes to paint and render with precision or with the nuance of expressive brushstrokes.

All skill levels will enjoy this class. All ages are welcome.
