Description: The composition expresses my transition from a pure metal sculptor and
my blossoming as a mixed media artist whose work integrates carved exotic woods with
welded and forged steel and copper. The welded steel bird, wings spread, sits perched
atop the carved walnut base. The surfacing creates depth and visual interest while the
laser-etched stanza from the namesake work by Poe adds a poetic element.
