Artist Lorrie Vogel 

Lorrie Vogel is an encaustic artist, Professor of Design Thinking at the University of Oregon, and former design executive with more than two decades leading Design and Innovation at Nike. Trained in Industrial Design at Syracuse University, her creative practice explores the intersection of design, emotion, memory, and atmosphere through the luminous qualities of wax and layered surfaces. Influenced by Impressionism and the emotional power of light, Vogel works primarily in encaustic and cold wax painting. She is drawn to these mediums for their ability to create depth, translucency, and sculptural texture that shifts with light and viewing angle. Inspired by the Oregon coast, Vogel’s work captures moments of wonder, movement, humor, and atmosphere through richly layered surfaces and expressive color. Vogel is represented by House of Orange Art Gallery in Cannon Beach, Oregon.
